AT&T still processing pre-orders on web site.
The arrival at AT&T of Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is currently surrounded in mystery with the wireless carrier still showing the phone as only available via pre-order. They had previously announced that the Galaxy S3 would be available on June 21st, only to have to announce that date had been moved to June 28th. Since we are beyond that date which has come and gone, there has been no update from AT&T as to when they think they might be selling the Galaxy S3 here in the US. And it is that unknown which is causing problems for them.
The entire problem with moving arrival dates here in the US is due to extremely higher than expected demand for the Galaxy S3. The pre-orders have exceeded just about everyone’s expectations and Samsung is not able to currently keep up with demand to meet supply requests. That should be resolved by August, but in the mean time, arrival dates continue to slip. As for AT&T, they are not publishing any dates right now. That would indicate that they do not have any firm dates which they can provide because of the continuing inventory issues with Samsung. What makes this even worse is that AT&T is only selling the 16 GB version of the Galaxy S3.
As further proof, AT&T is no longer providing estimated delivery dates for pre-orders. Instead they are showing that a pre-order shipment will ship “within 10 days based on available supply.” That does not mean that it will be within 10 days of making the pre-order purchase, but rather within 10 days after they have sufficient Galaxy S3 phones on hand to ship. It could be another month before they have enough on hand to ship and offer for retail sale. All of this continues to create problems for the higher than expected demand for the Galaxy S3.
For now, there are no dates published for the arrival of the Galaxy S3 at AT&T.
