Will Apple file a lawsuit because S Voice is so good?
We knew it would not take long for someone to do a comparison between the Galaxy S3 and its use of S Voice and the iPhone 4S and Siri. This is good comparison between the two features and while there are some minor differences in results, the results are extremely close. Siri uses Wolfram Alpha for its knowledge engine and S Voice uses, yes your guessed it, Wolfram Alpha. They are both getting information from the same knowledge source. Weather look ups are going to be difference based on a variety of factors. In the end, it is one feature which gives S Voice the edge. And that is turn by turn navigation on the Galaxy S3, which the iPhone 4S does not.
More than likely, Apple will update Siri to include this feature as well and with that, these two basically become a draw between them both. Given the ongoing battles between Samsung and Apple, we expect to see a lawsuit being filed by Apple in as many countries as possible over S Voice infringing on Apple patents. And another one will drag its way through the courts and tie up the companies. For the foreseeable future, we can expect to see S Voice and Siri going neck and neck with features as one comes out with something new and the other follow up in the next version to match it.
This video comes to us via YouTube from Richie’s Room which is a site that reports on technology and is located in Australia. The Galaxy S3 is already available in Australia, having been released on May 31st, unlike us in the US who are still waiting. If you do not have the Galaxy S3 and are interested in it, take a look at this comparison.
