While The Galaxy S2 Will Be Getting ICS, Nexus S Owners Have Not Been Forgotten
The update of Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Nexus S owners was started back in December to the excitement of those owners. Unfortunately, that was pulled as the result of complaints regarding battery life after the update. Since that time, things have been very quiet for Galaxy Nexus S owner. Now there are reports that we are within a few weeks of Google providing an Ice Cream Sandwich version based on information from Engadget. If their source is accurate, more information will be coming and this time it will be an official announcement from Google and Samsung.
This comes as great news for Galaxy Nexus S owners after learning that Galaxy S2 owners are getting Ice Cream Sandwich before them. Since the Nexus S is a pure OS device from Google, it was hoped that an update would have been provided sooner for those owners. While it was back in December, the pull back has been a problem as owners wait with no information or news as to what is going on with Android 4.0 for their phones. The specific reasons for the pull back are only rumored at this point and there has not been a lot of detail published as to what is going on.
We can assume that it is a mixed bag of problems being reported where some Galaxy Nexus S users are having no problems what so ever and others are experiencing problems. Those situation make it very difficult to nail down exactly what the problem is on the device and correct them. We have all heard how successful Apple has been in correcting the battery life problems they are experiencing on the iPhone. If this is a similar situation, there may still be problems being reported after the coming roll out of Android 4.0.
For now, Galaxy Nexus S owners can only wait and listen for more rumors to be revealed until such time as Google or Samsung begin to release information related to a coming roll out. Hopefully this latest rumor is accurate and it will arrive by the end of the month.
