Samsung has created a new category of phones which is the marriage of a smart phone and that of a mini-tablet. With a 5.3 inch touch screen it is larger than anything else we are seeing on the market which is being considered as a smart phone. This is looking like it is turning into an advertising blitz for Samsung for the Galaxy Note as we continue to see ads for it. There are increasing postings on YouTube as they continue to promote the new phone to promote the values and features. With it being a hybrid, it seems for some as though it is a little too large of a smart phone and that is probably the biggest hurdle which they have to over come. It is that single item which has people talking about the value of a “phablet” which is the label assigned to the Galaxy Note by Samsung.
And having people talking about the Galaxy Note is exactly what Samsung wants to see for it keeps the discussion going. And with all the discussion and advertising, people should start to be interested in exactly what it is. That is the goal of the advertising, YouTube videos, Tweets and everything else they are putting out in terms of promoting this new category. They need to keep it in the fore front until it really catches on with people as it is something which many are not yet accustom to which could take some time.
The Galaxy Note serves multiple purposes and as we have said in the past, reminds us of the Palm Pilot from years back. That was the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as it served so many needs at its peak and the Galaxy Note serves even more needs with its release in the US on Sunday. The stylus is a natural add on as it allows you to do so many more things than you can do with a touch screen.
Samsung has made a gamble on the Galaxy Note and while it is popular in other countries, it is not a sure thing in the US. They are having to promote the value of the mini-tablet to convince people of its value. Here is one of the latest promos they have put out.
