Samsung’s release of the Galaxy Note has created quite a stir in the technology world with a mobile device which is part smart phone and part tablet. Calling it a phablet seems to be the current best description of exactly what it is, but we prefer the term Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as it reminds one of the Palm and all that it could do in a single device. Now we are hearing that the 5.3 inch Galaxy Note may be growing up to 10.1 inches as a big brother version. This information is care of The Verge where they are reporting a developer invitation where the Galaxy Note 10.1 has been revealed. The Samsung Developer Day event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is where the information was accidentally shown to the public. The referenced page by The Verge is no longer visible as it has been changed to hide the revealed information from the public.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was shown under the “Exhibition For Developers” and shows the “Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Wave 3, Wave Y” on the screen shot. It raises all kinds of questions as to what Samsung might be doing with the Galaxy Note. Are they trying to expand on the current successes around the world with the Galaxy Note 5.3 to now expand to a new tablet called the Galaxy Note 10.1? That could well be the case as further down in the article, they are showing a casting call for a commercial for the Galaxy Note 10.1 to be filmed in Southern California this month. It would seem that things are lining up for the announcement at WMC by Samsung.
We can speculate for another reason for the expansion into the 10.1 inch size for Samsung and the Galaxy Note. That would be to circumvent all the Apple lawsuits and come out with a brand new and unique tablet which is completely Samsung’s. This one looks like it is going to be very successful and the Galaxy Note 5.3 has a few more days before you can actually purchase one here in the US. Reports from other countries where the Galaxy Note 5.3 has been selling are very positive and sales are estimated as very good. With the successes of the Galaxy Note 5.3, they are going to believe the same successes can be duplicated in the Galaxy Note 10.1.
The Mobile World Congress starts on February 27th in Barcelona, Spain so we do not have long to wait before this becomes an official announcement from Samsung.
