With iPhone 5 release, the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 are the ones that matter.
With all the smart phones which are available in the market, it makes one wonder just how much competition there really is. More than 5 years ago, Blackberry was the only device out there which controlled the market, making it difficult for others to break in and grab a decent share of the market. Then Apple came along with the iPhone and has gained and led in the single phone category. This has lasted for years as they have grown their share of the market and created demand for the iPhone. This has made it tough for other smart phone manufacturers to make inroads into grabbing a decent share of the market. For the past few years, Apple was the only one that matter, though others have tried to break in.
Samsung has done well with the Galaxy S II over the past few years and with the Galaxy S3, they have done very well in just a few months in grabbing market share and making a difference. The Galaxy S3 is the first phone in the past few years which looks like it is going to stand on its own to directly challenge the iPhone 5. It seems that just about every comparison with the iPhone 5 includes the Galaxy S3 which shows just how important and influential that it has become. And there are others who see that strength, such as Business Insider. With over 20 million Galaxy S3 phones being used right now in only 4 months on the market, Samsung has created a following for their falgship devices.
Apple is pushing their bigger screen, which the Galaxy S3 already offers. Apple is pushing thier 4G LTE, which Samsung already has on the Galaxy S3. It seems that Apple has now moved into catch up mode, following the Galaxy S3 instead of leading the Galaxy S3. Apple did not include the Near Field Communication (NFC) chip in the iPhone 5, but the Galaxy S3 has it included and is ready to take advantage of and leverage mobile payments when they become available. This is truly looking like it is the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 as the two most important phones in the market today.
Do you think the Galaxy S3 is just as important as the iPHone 5?
