3 largest wireless carriers will sell Galaxy S3 with huge market potential
News involving the Galaxy S3 continues to flow with information regarding its roll out in China on June 9th, only a few days away. With the US still waiting and Europe reporting very positive information, you might wonder why an announcement about China matters. In the scheme of things, it is just another market for Samsung to bring the new Galaxy S3 to sell. But if you look at the potential for that market, that is where you begin to understand the numbers it could bring.
In a recent article from Reuters, carrier numbers have been revealed. China Mobile has 672 million subscribers, China Unicom has over 212 million subscribers and China Telecom has over 138 million subscribers. To put that into perspective here in the US, Verizon Wireless has well over 108 million subscribers. The market potential for Samsung and the Galaxy S3 could be very significant for them in China.
Apple does not have these three carriers on board selling the Apple iPhone, so this action is going to provide Samsung with some big sales. This is especially true for China Mobile who is still negotiating with Apple to sell the iPhone. Apple is selling the iPhone at China Unicom and China Telecom. Getting the Galaxy S3 to China Mobile at the same time as China Telecom and China Unicom is going to provide sales potential on a scale which Samsung has not had anywhere in the world.
Watch for sales of the Galaxy S3 to be very high and if the pricing on the phone is less than the price for the current Apple iPhone in China, it could spell trouble for Apple. Pricing for China is not currently available.
