Continuing rumors for the Galaxy S3 have LTE functionality integrated into the processor
It seems that the rumors surrounding the Galaxy S3 are increasing as more information is leaked regarding the next generation of the flagship smart phone from Samsung. There are more pictures emerging as to how the phone will look and these are generally mock ups and not the real phone itself. But they do look fantastic. The picture we are showing here is from the article about the May 22nd announcement of the coming phone in London. The real beauty of the phone is what is inside and some of the recent information about it has been something to talk about. Yesterday, we talked about the wireless charging which is rumored to be coming. In an even better rumor, the LTE functions will be embedded on the processor.
Some may not see the significance of this, but it is a big deal. The LTE On-chip has a number of great benefits which some may not recognize. The integration of the LTE chip so that it communicates directly with the hardware is going to save battery life and improve performance. LTE chips last year were add ons and had to be glued on the top of other radio chips which meant that they consumed additional power and were no where near as efficient as they should have been.
With this change and being located inside the coming quad core processor, we are going to see far better performance for LTE connectivity and an associated battery life improvement. Samsung’s promised goal is to provide full day battery life to their phones and this moves them very close to achieving that goal. With the quad core processor, they are going to increase the performance and reduce battery consumption as well.
All of this is rumor and Samsung has not made official announcements as to exactly what the phone is going to have in the way of specs. With that, we can expect the rumors to continue to come out as the leaks are found and spread. The current quad core processor for instance has been listed as running at 1.2 Ghz to 1.8 Ghz in speed and is all rumor and speculation. Some better than others as Samsung moves to the Exynos processors which have been rumored. If ends up being accurate, we are looking at speeds on the higher end of what is being rumored right now.
Rumors continue for the announcement and we are waiting for the official one from Samsung.
