Conflicting information coming from reps at Verizon for pre-orders.
The biggest topic of conversation in the past few days is about pre-orders at Verizon in what appears to be confusion as to what is going on. There are numerous reports of people trying to find out when they are going to be getting their pre-ordered Galaxy S3 and being told that it will be shipped by July 9th. This includes those who have started getting emails from Verizon about their phones being shipped. In some of those emails, there is no tracking number being included. For others, the tracking number is being sent in a follow up email and their phone is on the FedEx truck to be delivered the next day. Some reps at Verizon keep saying the phones will be shipped by July 9th as though they do not have any information as to what is going on.
There are reports of people getting conflicting information where they have received an email that the phone has been shipped, but without a tracking number yesterday. When they call customer service, they are told that the phone will ship on July 9th. Not a good thing. But there are a growing number of reports of the Verizon Galaxy S3 being shipped and even received by some. The reports of shipped emails from Verizon are now flowing in and growing. People are seeing their credit cards being charged and reports of deliveries today of the Galaxy S3 are growing.
In some situations, those receiving their phones today are having activation issues, though it is not wide spread. It seems that things are starting to flow on getting things out. Verizon is sending out notifications of the phones being shipped to people before FedEx has even arrived to pick up the phone from Verizon. When tracking numbers are first provided, FedEx does not have any information because they have not picked the package up yet. But, Galaxy S3 phones are being shipped.
With the confusion from customer service about when the Galaxy S3 is going to ship and some activation issues, things should be smoothed out once the Galaxy S3 is actually on sale. We can hope that the email notification for pre-orders grow to much larger volumes today and tomorrow, so that all pre-orders are out the door by Monday evening for Tuesday delivery. Verizon appears to be shipping Galaxy S3 phones in the order they were placed by people, so if you did not order yours in the first few days, you may not hear anything until tomorrow or later. Things are going to continue to be a little crazy for the next few days.
