Color problems cause delays in Europe
The Galaxy S3 is experiencing problems with the colors which are being used, White and Pebble Blue, which are experiencing some defects. And those defects are causing shortages or delays for the product. And with those delays, the arrival in the US looks like it may well be delayed from late June to early July. All of this because of the current problems which are being experienced with the Galaxy S3. At the moment, there is a delay for the White Galaxy S3 of a few days and the delay for the Pebble Blue Galaxy S3 is 2 to 3 weeks. That is a very long delay for that particular color from being available and does not look good for the US launch which has been previously rumored to be June 20th.
All of the delays are related to quality control issues and are causing problems all around Europe as well. There appears to be much confusion with the delay with some people saying even their White Galaxy S3 has been delayed for weeks. While Samsung is blaming a “newly invented blue colour and special hyperglaze material”, that does not explain the recent reports for both the White and Pebble Blue Galaxy S3 pre-orders being delayed. That would point to a bigger problem with inventory and availability.
And that leads us to the point at which we start to wonder exactly when we might be seeing the Galaxy S3 in the US. With the delays being reported in Europe of 2 or 3 weeks, that is going to push things back at least 2 weeks for here in the US. Even if it is only the Pebble Blue version which is delayed, at the very least that version is going to be delayed. Given the reports of even the White Galaxy S3 pre-orders being delayed for a few weeks, it casts doubt on it arriving in the US before July. More US rumors are starting to circulate for a July 11th date because of the shortages which are being reported in Europe. Some models will be available in June, but others will be available in July, such as the 16 GB White model according to rumors. Having carriers wait until they have all the models available has been generally the path which they follow.
Samsung has committed to 145 countries by the time July rolls around, but is not providing any details behind that. Previous statements had this happening in June, so things appear to be slipping already. Whether Samsung will deliver the Galaxy S3 on June 20th is up in the air right now because of the reported delays and quality control issues. While I still want to believe the phone will arrive in June, the newly rumored date of July 11th is starting to look more realistic.
When do you think the Galaxy S3 will arrive in the US?
