Lack of confirmation from Samsung may indicate problems.
With Jelly Bean being the latest Android OS from Google, there is always the desire to have the latest and greatest on your smart phone. And while some had thought it would be coming sooner rather than later, it now appears that we may have to wait a while longer to receive it. And that is even more true here in the US than for the International version. We can potentially have to wait up to 4 weeks longer before we will see Jelly Bean on Galaxy S3. Not something to be desired given the big popularity of Samsung’s flagship phone.
We had reported Jelly Bean coming soon to the Galaxy S3, but that may not happen as Samsung has grown very quiet as to what is going on. At the moment, Samsung will not provide a specific date and because of that we believe that it is probably going to be November before it actually starts rolling out. The primary reason for that is because once Samsung is done with their updates, then the wireless carriers have to do their part for making adjustments and changes to Jelly Bean. That is just the way that things work with the Android OS.
Because of all the leaked versions which have been coming out, many believed that we were very close to seeing Samsung complete the necessary work to release Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3, but that is not the case. And for those of you who are Verizon Wireless customers with the Galaxy S3, the software update for your smart phone very soon is NOT for Jelly Bean, but instead is a series of fixes for the phone specifically related to Verizon and their network. Some had gotten their hopes up believing that rumors of an update from Verizon was for Jelly Bean. Anyone who has been with Verizon for a number of years knows that they are painfully slow at releasing software updates.
For now, we will be standing in line here in the US behind the International update for the Galaxy S3.
