An interesting twist where a company confirms the specifics of a brand new product before the actual press event. But that is exactly what has happened this morning as Samsung has confirmed the reports about the Galaxy S3 Mini. This all comes from Mobile chief JK Shin at Samsung, so it is a reliable source. There are even pictures of the Galaxy S3 Mini on display for the press event and it has not even happened yet. So much for keeping things under wraps until the actual announcement.
No pricing has been reported yet on this, but there are some specs starting to show up. And these appear to be the final specs which will be revealed tomorrow. The Mini will have 1 GB of RAM. 16 GB of internal storage along with the same plastic housing for the phone. Unlike the Galaxy S3 which is currently out, this one will come with Jelly Bean installed. The rest of us are going to have to wait on that. An 800 by 480 AMOLED display shown on a 4 inch screen. All of this is going to become official in the morning.
Do not expect to see this smaller version of the Galaxy S3 in North America. The Galaxy S3 is selling extremely well and the demand for larger screen phones means the Galaxy S3 Mini will not be coming to the US. The primary market for this is Europe which is where it will be released. There are currently no other specifics on where it might be released.
