Latest rumor has Galaxy S3 coming with “Home” button
It would appear that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is starting to rival the Apple iPhone in terms of rumors. The latest one comes from Korea and has Samsung putting the “Home” button on the phone after previous rumors had it coming without the “Home” button. The secrecy which Samsung has been able to put around their coming successor to the Galaxy S II has been very good. It reminds one of Apple and how they were able to keep things very secret on the coming iPhone which resulted in a large volume of rumors being produced and reported. We are seeing the same activities going on with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and many of those of recent days have been coming from Korea’s Digital Daily site.
This recent rumor is posted on Digital Daily’s site (translation) is talking about how Samsung decided to remove the home button and they have now reversed that decision to now include the home button. If this one is correct, it continues with what many have become accustom on the Galaxy smart phones. But then again, this is another rumor feeding the rumor mill.
While the phone will come with the expected 4 icons embedded in the interface at the bottom of the touch screen, the physical “Home” screen button is one that can operate when you touch screen hangs up. Based on the Digital Daily report, Samsung is going to be including 5 columns of icons much in the same way they are currently appearing on the Galaxy Note. The majority of smart phones come with 4 columns of icons. Included with that is the confirmation that the Galaxy S3 will be arriving with Ice Cream Sandwich already installed on the phone, which we have to assume to be accurate and true.
Previous reports have the Galaxy S3 coming with wireless charging abilities through the battery cover on the phone, though it might be as an accessory. There was even a rumor that Samsung might be offering a dual boot option so that you could choose Ice Cream Sandwich as a vanilla OS or one that has TouchWiz embedded in it. The rumors of the screen stretching from edge to edge have come to be believed as being part of the coming phone from Samsung.
The Digital Daily is indicating a May launch for the coming Galaxy S3 and one that we all hope is correct for the arrival of a greatly improved smart phone. The current rumor and speculation have Samsung making the formal announcement on May 22nd in London which is one that we have previously heard on the rumor mill.
We are a little over a month away from hearing Samsung make the formal announcement about the Galaxy S3 and exactly what it will include.
