Samsung Galaxy S3 rumors are growing with some being very believable.
It seems that rumors for the Galaxy S3 are growing in number and this week has not been an exception. It seems that some of rumors are difficult to believe while others seem to be right on the mark. It would appear that Samsung has received 10 million pre-orders for the anticipated successor to the Galaxy S2. This comes from Eldar Murtazin in a tweet and would appear to be a fairly reliable source of information. As launch orders, that is a great number and would indicate the expectations that Samsung has for this device. These are orders by those in the distribution channels who then provide them to other distributors or retail outlets. Given the rumored numbers, the launch of the Galaxy S3 is going to be big.
This morning, we are even seeing a report of Samsung being in carrier testing in Korea. If this is true, it is a very good sign that the Galaxy S3 is going to be announced in May here in the US. This latest rumor has a display of 720p and a 4.65 inch touch screen. These 2 items have a number of other possibilities so we could see some differences in the specifics.
Rumors of Samsung already being in production are now going around and would indicate we are within a month of an announcement. Some believe that it could be announced this month, but a previous rumor of a May 22nd announcement in London seem to be the best bet to get the official announcement from Samsung for the Galaxy S3. With the Galaxy S3 being in production, we should start to see increasing leaks of information about the coming smart phone. The one unknown at this point is Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung is committed to providing that on the phone when it arrives, but they are obviously having some problems with getting it out for existing models such as the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note. That is the only barrier we see to the arrival of the Galaxy S3.
Whether they will change the name is an unknown given the recent naming change by Apple. With all the trademarking of names by Samsung, they could change the name to something which does not have a numbering scheme associated with it. Since they are directly competing with Apple for market share, it would not be a surprise if they took that path. We can expect to know something about that no later than May 22nd.
