Reports today showing fantastic sales of the Galaxy S3.
It seems that the positive news about the Galaxy S3 seems to continue. And today was another day of information coming out. Samsung has provided information on the sales of the new phone with 10 million units having been sold in less than 2 months. That is hitting a very lofty goal for them in a very short period of time. We have to understand what they mean by sold as it is not what you might think. This is not actual sales to customers who now hold the Galaxy S3. It represents sales into distribution channels which does not translate into actual sales. Inventory takes up part of that number. But, it is quite an accomplishment in a very short period of time.
All of this is coming from Yonhap news in South Korea from Shin Jong-kyun who is a senior executive with Samsung. This milestone shows just how popular the Galaxy S3 has become in a very short period of time. With the phone being released on May 3rd, we still have to get to August 3rd to get to the 2 month mark meaning there could still be even more sales in the next few weeks.
In another report, the Galaxy S3 is outselling the iPhone 4S in Southern California. And that is saying a lot about how well the phone is going to do over the next few months. This is based on a survey of 32 wireless carriers and they are saying the Galaxy S3 is selling more than the iPhone 4S over the past 10 days. That kind of information is probably being repeated in various locations all over the US.
How the Galaxy S3 is going to stand up to the iPhone 5 when it comes out is an unknown. Given these kind of numbers, it looks to be a strong competitor to the iPhone with the Galaxy S line of smart phones.
