Samsung reportedly leaks Galaxy Tab 11.6 on their site
It seems that Samsung rumors have been increasing and those for the coming Galaxy tab 11.6 are on the rise as well. Some previous rumors had it being announced on March 9th, but we all know that did not happen at SXSW as was expected. Others have said that it would be announced this quarter, but they are quickly running out of days to make that happen. We have not heard of any press events being scheduled by Samsung for next week, so that rumor would appear to not be correct as well. The latest rumor is that Samsung has accidentally released a picture of the Galaxy Tab 11.6 in a Exynos brouchure on their site.
The picture shown to the right is from Samsung’s own site where they talk about the Exynos 5 Dual. This is being reported by Android and Me as being a picture of the coming Galaxy Tab 11.6. But is it really? We know that Samsung is working on reducing the size of the bezel on many of their devices according to numerous rumors which have been coming out. The bezel on this device is rather large and takes up a lot of space. It could well be that this is not a picture of the actual Galaxy Tab 11.6, but rather a mock up which is not up to date.
I would not expect Samsung to make that kind of a mistake in a marketing brochure. This brings us to what the Galaxy Tab 11.6 is going to look like and we only have rumors to go on. Let’s assume that they are reducing the bezel for a minute, which would mean that the overall size of the coming tablet would not be as big. That becomes a great selling point of a larger screen without a much larger tablet. Rumors of screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 have been going around and we know that everyone is trying to complete with the iPad, so this one seems reasonable. That means that we would be seeing 1080p coming. Some of the previous rumors have it running a dual core processor, but with all the quad core processors coming out, we can expect to see a quad core processor. With Galaxy S3 rumors, they are talking about LTE being contained on the processor, so we would expect to see the same thing for the Galaxy Tab 11.6.
We have not heard any rumors or reports of the Galaxy Tab 11.6 arriving at the FCC. With everything being rumor, we can assume that it will not be until Q2 that this one is announced. Since we expect it will arrive with Ice Cream Sandwich, the delay may be a good thing. Samsung, along with other Android manufacturers, appear to be having trouble porting ICS to their devices and include TouchWiz. The delays for Android 4.0 cannot be ignored and any new products without it are going to be a problem.
The rumors are going to continue for a while until Samsung makes the official announcement.
