The Galaxy Tab 7.7 was expect to arrive at Verizon during CES, but that has come and gone with no official arrival date and lots of rumors.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 had a hands on for everyone attending CES in January and the wait for the announcement has been going on for more than a month. The idea that it would arrive “in coming weeks” is starting to look like months at the rate things are going. Current speculation has the Galaxy Tab 7.7 arriving March 1st or March 8th. It is looking like March 1st is a better match based on information which was obtained by phoneArena where they are showing a Verizon leaked document showing a launch date of March 1st. Nothing is for sure with Verizon after the leaked Galaxy Nexus dates which came and went.
This small tablet comes with a 1.4 Ghz dual core processor and 1 GB of flash memory making this a great performer. The resolution is 1280 by 800 with HD using Samsung’s Super AMOLED. Containing a 4G LTE radio chip, this one will operate on Verizon’s ever expanding wireless network at some fantastic speeds. Pricing for this latest Galaxy Tab tablet is $499.99 with the usual 2 year contract.
While the wait continues, Samsung continues to work on other products, so this one really needs to get out into people’s hands for use. It is an odd size at 7.7 inches instead of usual 7 inches. The pricing seems to be a little high and puts it into the range of the Apple iPad which has additional features. It seems that Samsung is cranking out tablets right now and it is going to make them a little harder to sell some of them. At Verizon, the existing Galaxy Tab 7 is available for $299.99 with a 2 year contract making it appear as a much better value for consumers.
Ice Cream Sandwich will not be coming to the Galaxy Tab 7.7 at release, but will comes as an Over The Air (OTA) update in “coming months”. Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) will be on the tablet at release and there has been no official information from Samsung as to when ICS will be coming to the Galaxy Tab 7.7.
