Android 4 updates rolling out to many more devices.
It seems that some of the Android Fragmentation issues may finally be getting resolved. That is because we are finally starting to hear of more news about updates coming out. A few months back, there were many who were still waiting to get an update to Android 3 so they could run Ice Cream Sandwich. It seems that this week, we are seeing far more reports of new updates for devices. And that news may finally see the tide change next week to reduce the amount of fragmentation.
AT&T updates for Galaxy devices
As was being reported by The Verge, AT&T released Android 4.0 to the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the Galaxy Note yesterday.
Google releasing Jelly Bean
Google is releasing Andoird 4.1 to international version of the popular Galaxy Nexus. There is no word on when Verizon might be updating the Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus getting ICS update
The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is available via Samsung’s Kies service in Austria. It will be expanding around the globe. This update is for Android 4.0.4. No word on when Jelly Bean might be coming to this tablet.
Samsung rolling out Android 4.0.4 for Galaxy S II
Samsung is making Android 4.0.4 available via Kies for international owners of the Galaxy S II.
Motorola ICS updates being for RAZR and RAZR MAXX
The Ice Cream Sandwich update for these two phones has started.
Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean
While Android 4.1 has just been released, it seems to be rolling out much faster than Ice Cream Sandwich and could have a larger percentage of the market in a much shorter time than Android 4.0. Time will tell on that and it will be interesting to look at the numbers at the beginning of August.
This is all recent news and there will be much more in coming weeks as the updates continue to increase. We can hope that wireless carriers continue to move on these as quickly as possible so that people are able to access and download the latest versions.
