Ice Cream Sandwich For Galaxy S2 In South KoreaThe Verge where South Korea’s SK Telecom was showing on their web site that they would be making ICS available on March 13th at 10:00 AM. This was done in a Tweet which has been pulled down, but the original one has been copied and displayed for everyone to see. Whether this is an accurate report from the wireless carrier should be known relatively soon. For all the Galaxy S2 owners throughout the world, this would mean the beginning of the roll out for ICS.
We reported last week that Ice Cream Sandwich was not going to arrive on March 10th after it had been posted by Samsung in a Tweet and then pulled. Now, a wireless carrier in South Korea has done the same thing with an arrive date of March 13th. Having only one of these kinds of reports would indicate that it was a mistake on someone’s part, but to have 2 reports in such a very short time frame tends to provide support for Ice Cream Sandwich coming very soon for the Galaxy S II.
There is speculation that this latest Tweet has been pulled because it did not come directly from Samsung, but rather a wireless carrier. The Verge has reviewed some internal documents on SK Telecom’s internal web site to confirm what was being reported and the documentation does support the stated date and time from the Tweet. This would add to the credibility of the report and mean that we are very close to seeing the announcement by Samsung for Ice Cream Sandwich being made available. It would appear that this week will start the first roll out of Android 4.0.
With that in mind, here is a YouTube video from The Android Soul showing how to install ICS.
