In 2008, Polaroid announced that would stop manufacture of their very popular cameras. The idea of taking a picture and having it developed in a minute was very popular in the 70’s and 80’s, but with the arrival of digital cameras, it started its downward trend from which it never recovered from. You add in cameras on smart phones with the ability to immediately send them and their demise was certain and almost immediate. At its prime, their name was recognized the world over. Since they have stopped manufacturing the popular camera, it might be nice to have one as a collectors item. Or even have one that is still functional for taking pictures.
While they are no longer manufacturing the once popular cameras, they are still available as refurbished models. And that may be the case for several years to come. You can still find them at Polaroid’s web site for sale, but their availability is limited on Polaroid receiving cameras to be refurbished. But, they are not the only source where you can pick one up.
Over at Amazon, you can still pick up the Polaroid film for the 600 model, though the price is steep as compared to when it was an everyday item. And you can still buy the Polaroid One Step 600 there as well. If you are into nostalgia, here is an opportunity for you to purchase and use a camera which is part of our past cultural history.
