The Next Galaxy has unconfirmed reports as the Olympic Sponsor Phone
Rumors continue surrounding the Next Galaxy phone and are quickly rising closer to the same level as rumors surrounding the last iPhone from Apple. Getting a confirmation from Samsung is about the same as getting one from Apple. Nothing is being confirmed by Samsung and with the press event being held in London, the home of the 30th summer Olympic games has less than 100 days before they start. Because of that, some are saying that the Next Galaxy is the Official Olympic Phone for the games. Getting that confirmed has not happened and probably will not until May 3rd. It is rumored to be a branded Olympic phone coming with NFC capabilities for mobile payments during the games this summer.
The rumors surrounding this coming smart phone from Samsung have various configurations contained on it and some are in conflict with one another. As an example, some have the phone coming with a touch screen capable of 720p and others have it coming with 1080p. Another of the conflicting ones is for the camera with many saying it will be 8 megapixels and others saying it will be 12 megapixels. That is the nature of the rumors which continue. Some of this may have to get down to some decisions as to what seems reasonable given where things are at in the market place.
There are even reports that the Next Galaxy will be an evolutionary phone and not the expected revolutionary one. They are comparing this to the differences between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S. There was much disappointment for iPhone fans as a result and the only big thing on that phone was Siri. We know that Samsung does not have a Siri product in the wings, so we can all hope that it will indeed be a revolutionary phone that sets the bar a little higher for everyone else to strive for.
If the “Next Galaxy” is really the successor to the Galaxy S2 and not some other phone, there will be a lot of interest in it. The Galaxy S2 became Samsung’s flagship phone and the Galaxy S3 is sure to replace it if it lives up to at least half of the rumored items. According to other rumors, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S3 in multiple countries on the same date, taking a page out of Apple’s launch day manual to be successful. Over the past year, Samsung has tried to upstage Apple on their product releases and has been doing a good job in the area.
What do you believe the Galaxy S3 will contain?
