Ice Cream Sandwich Updates For Galaxy S2 Will Not Arrive March 10th
It seems that the rumors of Ice Cream Sandwich coming to the Samsung Galaxy S2 have been stated incorrectly. This was originally posted by Engadget based on information they had found on Samsung’s portal revealing that it was scheduled to arrive on March 10th. They even pasted a copy of the announcement in their article, but now it has basically been rescinded by Samsung. Endadget is showing the Tweet from Samsung who is saying that the date is incorrect.
This is a Korean language post and if translated using Translate By Google you get:
[Let you know that the upgrade from 10 Galaxy S2 ICS Samsung Electronics website Filipino ascended to the post wrong article are not true. Once the upgrade schedule is confirmed through twitter let me.
Obviously there is a little lost in the translation, but it is obvious that the March 10th date is not correct. So that brings up the question of exactly when the outstanding and popular Galaxy S2 is going to be getting Ice Cream Sandwich made available to it. We are close to 3 months of Ice cream Sandwich being out on the Galaxy Nexus and it is time for it to arrive on the Galaxy S2. This report that it was to arrive on March 10th generated a stir in the market place and so many were excited to see that it was coming. With this, there is a let down for receiving the latest and greatest OS from Google in the form of Android 4.0. It sure does seem that the roll out has been extremely slow and the reasons for that are unknown.
We know that other devices are now getting Ice Cream Sandwich, so we can hope that it will not be to much longer before this arrives for the Samsung Galaxy S2. The instructions to update your Galaxy S2 phone to ICS are still visible on the Samsung Portal site. If you are not sure what to expect to perform the update, this will familiarize you with the process. While some are predicting that Samsung will not be rolling out ICS to the Galaxy S2 until after the arrival of the Galaxy S3, we believe that Samsung has a huge audience with the S2 and it is very important for them to support those owners.
Do you believe that Samsung should be providing ICS to the Galaxy S2 before the Galaxy S3?
