Google has been successful with the Nexus 7 where they partnered with ASUS to deliver a remarkable tablet. And the sales for this have been doing very well. The arrival of the Nexus 7 also marked the arrival of Jelly Bean for the market place. So many others want to get their hands on Android 4.1 as a result of how well it has reviewed on the Nexus 7. While the 7 inch Nexus tablet has done well, it makes you wonder if Google may be considering a 10 inch tablet for the future.
It seems that is exactly what is going on based on a report from CNet.com where Samsung and Google are rumored to be working towards creating a 10 inch tablet. Based on the report, it would be a 10.1 inch tablet manufactured by Samsung. The reported rumor has this with resolution of 2560 by 1600. And that is greater than what the current iPad is offering at 2048 by 1536. This would make this a highly desirable tablet based on this information. But, we have to remember that this is based on rumors from unnamed sources.
The source for the information is Richard Shim who works as an analyst for NPD DisplaySearch. He is basing his information on things that he has picked up from leaks in the supply chain. That makes this a best guess rumor for now. But the partnership between Google and Samsung is an interesting one. Samsung produced the current Galaxy Nexus smart phone which was popular when it was released. Partnering with them on a 10.1 tablet makes a lot of sense given their successes in that area.
The price point for a Galaxy Nexus 10.1 inch tablet would be key to its success. And Google has been known to try and be very competitive in that area. The speculation is one that may be early on in the process. Without any other leaked information, there is no way to guess as to when this might show up in the marketplace. Arriving early in November could throw the tablet market on its side for the holiday season. This one is going to be interesting to see if the speculation turns into reality.
