Next Galaxy specs start to be released.
We thought Samsung was going to keep everything under wraps until May 3rd in London as part of their new secrecy methodology. We believed they were following in Apple’s footsteps to not reveal anything on their coming smart phone until it was officially announced. That has now changed as Samsung has issued a Press Release confirming that the Next Galaxy smart phone they are releasing will included the Exynos 4 quad processor in the phone. This now announced processor will be operating at 1.4 Ghz for each of the four cores and is based on the ARM Cortex A9. It is widely believed that the Next Galaxy will be called the Galaxy S3 because of leaked information by Samsung.
Due to its 32nm HKMG low-power process and power-saving design, the Exynos 4 Quad has two-times the processing capability over the 45nm process based Exynos 4 Dual while consuming 20-percent less power.
The Exynos processor is going to deliver excellent performance for the Galaxy S3 and ability to save power is going to give the coming smart phone some leading features. Battery life has been a big problem for 4G LTE phones and having a processor that runs faster and saves the battery is going to provide longer battery life. Samsung has committed to providing phones which have all day life on a single charge.
the new processor incorporates a full HD 30 frame per second video hardware codec engine for high resolution 1080p video recording and play-back
Rumors have been circulating as to whether the Galaxy S3 will be able to do video in 1080p or 720p. Given that the Exynos can support the 1080p resolution, it is very likely we will be seeing a smart phone with the 1080p capabilities. The big remaining question is whether the Exynos will come with the 4G LTE chip embedded in the processor which will further reduce the battery drain and improve over all performance. There have been rumors to that affect, but with this press release, this is not being confirmed. We can hope that it will.
We are a week away from getting the official specifications for the coming Galaxy S3.
