Galaxy S3 is rumored to provide a choice for the OS with dual booting
The wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3 continues with more rumors coming out regarding the smart phone. The latest one has owners being presented with a choice as to which OS they want to be running. This is with Ice Cream Sandwich and the rumor has Samsung building the option to run ICS with their TouchWiz interface or the plain ICS as it comes from Google. On computers, this is known as a dual boot option and if this rumor is correct, it will provide the best of both worlds to users and be leading edge. All of this is rumor and speculation based on a Reddit post as shown by Engadget where this is a possibility. This one is less solid sounding than most of the other rumors which have been going around.
If this rumor were to happen, Samsung would be changing how things are done in the industry with all the “bloatware” which gets added on all the time to the smart phones. Many complain about it, but no company has seemed to be willing to change how they are doing things. That is until this rumor which we hope will turn out to be true. It was just a few days ago where we reported that Samsung was stepping on the iCS interface with TouchWiz for the Galaxy S II and now we are hearing this rumor.
In other rumors about the coming Galaxy S3, there is more confirmation that it will be coming with LTE. That has not been in doubt given that just about every phone coming from Samsung this year has been LTE enabled. In the rumors coming out, the s3 will be coming with LTE and WCDMA which would indicate that the first ones may be going to Verizon here in the US. That is just speculation but would make sense given their growing 4G LTE wireless network here in the US.
It seems that the rumors as to exactly what the Galaxy S3 is going to contain continue with some saying a dual core processor and others saying a quad core processor. I would have to believe that it will be a quad core processor given all that is coming to market right now. Samsung must stay competitive in today’s market so that they can stay out in front of all the other phones. We do not have to wait too much longer as the current rumors have them making an announcement on May 22nd with an expected arrival of the Galaxy S3 in early June. Hopefully there are versions for both AT&T and Verizon, which could take away from potential iPhone 5 sales when that handset comes out.
