Samsung now free to sell Galaxy Tab 10.1 for holiday season
In what must be considered extremely good news for Samsung USA, the ban previously granted Apple as an injunction against sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been reversed. This was accomplished on Monday in the courtroom of Judge Koh. She is the same Judge who granted the injunction back on June 26th. As a result of the jury verdict in August, it was determined that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 did not infringe on the stated Apple patents. As a result, the Judge had little choice but to lift the ban.
We had talked about the possibility of the reversal by Judge Koh and this has turned into fantastic news. As a result of the decision, there will be monies to be paid by Apple for the damage that has been done. The Judge is hanging on to the 2.6 million dollar bond which Apple had to put up in the event the ban was overturned.
Unfortunately for Samsung, the damage done to the potential sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 cannot be recovered. And that is for the court to decide how much money Apple will pay to Samsung for that. Whether Samsung is going to do any promotions for the now available Galaxy Tab 10.1 is not known. That will take a few weeks to be decided since it has been banned until yesterday.
Samsung has not stood still and continues to develop great products. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is the tablet they are going to be promoting this holiday season and we can expect to see lots of advertising for it. This will be in conjunction with the very popular Galaxy Note 5.3 and the soon to arrive Galaxy Note 5.5. Things are looking up for Samsung.
