Kansas City 4G LTE availability begins before official date of July 15th.
Sprint has been talking about their coming 4G LTE roll out to keep up with Verizon and AT&T. They have rolled out the Galaxy S3 on June 28th, but there was no 4G LTE coverage available anywhere for the phone. This has been disappointing for many because they wanted to take advantage of the power and speed of LTE on Sprint’s wireless network. But, there are now reports coming where Sprint 4G LTE capable phones are reporting they are getting an LTE signal. This is in Kansas City, Kansas, the home of Sprint’s headquarters.
While Sprint’s 4G LTE network is supposed to officially launched on July 15th, there is reporting by S4GTU.com about 4G LTE service, including the picture above. They are getting reports from their forum with 4G LTE phones showing a 4G connection in advance of the official launch date from Sprint. And those numbers appear to be growing for them. Other areas, such as St. Joseph, Missouri and Manhattan, Kansas, are also reporting they are seeing a 4G LTE signal showing up on their LTE phones. The word of mouth is spreading quickly here.
For Sprint, it seems they are letting some signals “leak out” so that people can take advantage of LTE before the July 15th date. This is a great way to get people talking about this because it is live earlier than they stated. And it is because so many have been waiting patiently for the roll out of 4G LTE services at Sprint. With the launch of the Galaxy Nexus in April by Sprint, those owners will begin to take advantage of the faster 4G LTE service as it rolls out.
We can expect to see Sprint rolling out 4G LTE services on an expending basis through the remainder of the year, much to the delight of Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S3 owners. What this means to sales of the Sprint iPhone will be interesting to watch.
