After pulling back ICS in July, Sprint is now providing Android 4.0.4
We have heard rumors that Samsung wanted ICS rolled out to all Galaxy S II smart phones before they would sell the Galaxy S3 at wireless carriers. And it did appear that was exactly what happened prior to the arrival of the Galaxy S3. But, as things do happen some times, Sprint was forced to pull the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II Epic. The roll out in general for all carriers started back in the 1st quarter while there were a few misstarts, things were rolling out to all S II phones by the 2nd quarter. But, Sprint was not able to continue the roll out in July after issues were discovered.
Sprint started the roll out last June, and it was pulled back because of problems. Things have been very quiet since that time and Sprint has not issued any official statements. But, we are hearing that the roll out for Android 4.0.4 is finally starting to happen for the Sprint Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. This comes from multiple sources including Phandroid which is a great source of information. The information is coming from Sprint Galaxy S II owners who are downloading Android 4.0.4. And they are the ones who are reporting the arrival in growing numbers.
The number of reports is starting to increase and with this Over the Air update, Sprint has finally gotten the roll out to the Galaxy S II. And if you are the owner of a Sprint Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, you should be seeing the update very soon.
