Pre-orders are still available from Verizon.
With popularity of the Galaxy S3, it appears that Verizon will be late to the party following T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. While there has not been an official arrival date, we have been basing the release date at Verizon based on the ship dates for pre-orders. The most recent ship date is showing July 11th for pre-orders and thus many are speculating that is the date when Verizon will offer the Galaxy S3 for sale. Since I ordered my Galaxy S3 with a ship by date of July 9th, I have not seen any information from Verizon about a change in the ship by date. I do not assume they will ship it on July 9th as Verizon has a history of not updating people about changes in dates until they have a firm date. And at the moment, there are no firm dates for Verizon and rumors for July 12th.
Many have been wondering why Verizon is releasing the Galaxy 3 so late, but there has not been much information coming from Verizon. But, Samsung has released information which shows they are experiencing overwhelming demand for the Galaxy S3 and cannot keep up with demand. Being one of the last companies to sell the Galaxy S3 in the US, it puts Verizon at a disadvantage especially given they are the largest US wireless carrier. At the moment, many assumed that Verizon would be selling the Galaxy S3 beginning on July 11th.
But others are saying they will begin selling the Galaxy S3 on July 12th. And that date seems to be more in keeping with past history. Verizon likes to launch products on a Thursday, so that date matches. Verizon also likes to have pre-orders arrive on or before the launch date. So, if they are shipping on July 11th, odds are those will arrive on July 12th. So, it does look like Verizon will begin selling the Galaxy S3 beginning on July 12th.
