Orders will not be delivered until July 9th for those who pre-order
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is now available to be pre-ordered from Verizon Wireless as of 7:00 AM EDT (4:00 AM PDT) today. This is for the Pebble Blue or White versions of the smart phone and it is expected to be very popular with the potential to be sold out long before we arrive at delivery dates. With prices of $199.99 (16 GB) and $249.99 (32 GB), it is competitively priced. And with the competitive prices, it could sell out because of the normally limited quantities which are available to be pre-ordered. Because of the previous reports of battery cover defects which had to be destroyed, it may take another few weeks before Samsung is able to cover all the necessary inventory. But for now, you can take advantage of ordering your own one now. But the current question is just when might you receive it.
Normally, you get the pre-order phones 1 or 2 days before they go on retail sale. In our summary of information for the 5 US carriers, we did not have a confirmed on sale date for Verizon or AT&T. While we did have them for T-Mobile and Sprint, the lack of that information is not good. And as a result, leaked information was starting to come out showing that Verizon will not be shipping the Galaxy S3 until the first part of July. As of this morning, we no longer are wondering when the Galaxy S3 will go on sales at Verizon Wireless stores. The Pre-order process is showing that all versions of the Galaxy S3 will be shipping by July 9th. That is directly from Verizon themselves and provides a definitive answer for any who have been wanting to know.
The Galaxy S3 is quite a phone with a number of features which is making this one desirable. Sales in Europe are doing quite well. One thing that makes the Verizon Galaxy S3 a better phone is the future capability to use the phone overseas. This will be done as a software update from Verizon sometime later in the year. If you travel overseas, this might be worth considering as your next new phone.
But, the big issue right now is when you can get the phone. Normally, pre-orders occur for about a week before the phone is available in stores, so this is a big departure from what we normally see. We expect the Galaxy S3 to be a very good seller during the pre-order period and by the end of July to be breaking a lot of records. The problem right now is the wait. With Verizon now showing a date of July 9th for delivery, we know that it will be trailing T-Mobile and Sprint. Can you wait that long to get your hands on the Galaxy S3?
