Verizon is providing an update to the Android software on your Galaxy S3 smart phone and it is available now. You need to be aware that the size of the file to download is 129.1 MB, so make sure that you do this over WiFi so that you do not chew into your data plan. With that in mind, it will take about 8 – 10 minutes to download over WiFi, so set your phone to the side for a while. Once it is done downloading, it will require a reboot of your phone to install the update. With the spinning web in the stomach area of the Android, it will apply all the changes to your phone. Expect this one to run for more than a few minutes. Once that is done, you have all the current updates.
Unfortunately, it resets a few things such as the Swipe to Unlock reminder. A minor issue to deal with. One of the pop ups shows you how to start multi window which is one of the new features in the update. You now have a tab on the left hand side of the screen for displaying this and configure it.
The download process is pretty straight forward. From your Galaxy S3 phone, you go to the Settings area and scroll down the bottom. Go to About Phone and then press the Software update line. If there is an available update, which there should be, you can press OK to begin the process.
