Wireless version to hit the markets with 4G LTE
Ever since the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 hit the market with only WiFi capabilities, we wondered when there would be a 4G LTE version showing up here in the US. It would appear that we are not going to have to wait very long for that given word that a version has cleared the FCC. This one seems to be destined for arrival at Verizon Wireless as model SCH-I705 and could show up in Verizon’s store fronts by the end of July, if not sooner.
In the FCC filings, this is clearly a CDMA capable device along with the 4G LTE capabilities for Verizon’s ever growing wireless network. Their LTE network is ahead of all the other US carriers and is expected to completely blanket the country by 2013. We do not have any pricing information available on this, but do expect to see it at the $249 price point, the same price as the WiFi version. This is because Verizon will have their standard 2 year contract associated with the purchase. Samsung has aimed this product to compete against the Kindle Fire and the 4G LTE version should do well.
