Canadian arrival of Galaxy S3 is delayed until June 27th
With the recent revelation regarding pre-order shipments from Verizon last week, everyone is now beginning to wonder if something bigger is really going on. And with reports of delays in Canada on Friday, it is time to be very concerned here in the US. The most recent news has the Galaxy S3 arriving in Canada on June 27th, which is 7 days later than the original June 20th date. This was 1 day before the US arrival. So, this raises the issue of whether the US could possibly see the same kind of delay.
The June 20th date in Canada was an official date put out, so it is now a surprise that it has been delayed. Given the concerns about Verizon’s pre-order delay, a delay for all of the US could be coming. The Canadian delay, as reported by Mobile Syrup has Samsung issuing a formal explanation as to what was going on.
Due to unprecedented global demand for the highly anticipated Samsung GALAXY S III, with more than 9 million carrier pre-orders to date, the date of availability for purchase of this device in Canada, is now June 27th. In advance of the GALAXY S III availability date, most carriers and retailers are offering customers the chance to register on-line for updates, and some partners are offering their customers the option to pre-order the Galaxy S III. We expect any shortages to be short lived as we ramp up production to meet this unprecedented global demand.
Based on the “unprecedented global demand”, we here in the US could experience the exact same delay as well. This is the week where the phone is expected to hit the majority of US wireless carriers on Thursday with very good sales and the possibility of lines in some stores. With estimates of over 9 million pre-order sales, this one looks like it will be a direct rival to the iPhone with much higher sales volume than previous Samsung smart phones.
