If you have ever dreaded cleaning the windows where you live… Wait a minute, we all dread having to clean the windows where we live. And then ending up with streaks and all is not what I look forward to doing. Having someone else do it would be great. Or maybe something else to do it. Like a robot would be great. Well, we have found just such a robot which can clean your windows.
This window cleaning robot is called the Winbot 7 from EcoVacs and it reminds me of robot vacuum cleaner that roams around your home picking up dirt. This robot window cleaner works by using suction to hold itself up on the window and roams around until it has cleaned the entire window. It will then return to the starting location waiting for you to turn it off and remove it from the window.
Evovacs has two different Winbot 7 products, one for a framed window and one for framed and frameless. A mirror in the bathroom would be considered as frameless. Once you have placed Winbot 7 on the window and it has completed the suction attachment, it will measure the size of the surface to clean by traveling from the bottom of the window to the top. Once it has done that, it moves around in a zip zag path until it has covered the entire window.
There are cleaning pads on the bottom of the Winbot 7 where you spray on a cleaning solution. Put it on the window and turn the unit on. It does everything after that. The size of this robot window cleaner is about that of a board game, so it may be awkward for some to put up to a window. This is powered by an electrical cord, but there is an on board battery. In the event of a power outage, the battery will maintain the suction on the window so that it does not fall to the floor.
The Winbot 7 is anticipated to be on sale in the spring at an expected price of $399. Here is a video of the Winbot 7 at CES 2013.
